They read the note, play it on their own piano, and Interval Hero hears whether it was right. No parent needed to check, no honour system — and an acoustic piano works just as well as a MIDI keyboard.
Only the first answer counts
Only a student’s first answer to each note is scored. Fixing it afterwards still leaves it marked wrong, so there’s nothing to gain by clicking fast and hoping — they slow down and actually read. The accuracy number you see is a true reading score, not a lucky third click.

Can I try it without signing up?
Yes — that’s the “Try it now” button. You get a full practice session in your browser with no account at all. If you then create a free account, that session’s progress comes with you.
Do my students need a MIDI keyboard?
No. Play the Note listens through the device’s microphone, so an ordinary acoustic or digital piano works. A MIDI keyboard is supported if you have one, but it’s never required.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes — it runs in the browser on phones, tablets and desktops. Nothing to install.
Can I use it with my whole studio?
Yes. Register as a Teacher and you get a class join-code. Students sign up with that code, land on your roster, and you can see each one’s progress and set assignments.
